Getting over fear, together.
I am currently writing this devotional fighting this giant named fear. Naturally, as a behavior analyst, I am consistently analyzing things in my life and recently I am noticing some patterns that you may relate to. Ultimately, I have allowed fear to keep me at a standstill as the days go by… and I can’t believe it is July already! Although my body seems to not want to move at times, my thoughts are constantly on the go. I find myself lost in reverie without realizing there is a door waiting to be opened. I just need some help moving this giant out of the way.
This isn’t a pity party, but a space for honesty.
I know what I should do but why don’t I just do it? Instead I distract myself with entertainment and work as an escape. Eventually, I realize it does not go away because it is part of me. My dreams are part of me. My purpose is part of me. Our days can get noisy but there are moments when that tender and patient voice is too loud to ignore. It reminds us of our dreams and encourages us to pick up where we left off.
Fear is a God given emotion triggered to help us perceive when we are in danger not to hold us back from good things. To be scared is not a bad thing, in fact, I would be concerned if you are in danger and fear does not prompt you to protect yourself. When the struggles of life evoke fear, there is a better way to respond than to numb or distract. If you dream of starting a business, hope to build meaningful relationships, begin a new profession, move to another location, go to that doctor appointment you keep rescheduling but fear has you on pause, I encourage you to join me in this journey of moving forward!
We should no longer allow fear of rejection, failure, bad turnout, wasting time, and financial failure keep us stuck! Join me in how we can make practical changes in our lives as well as analyze where that fear stems from. Knowledge is strength but knowing is not enough, we need to act. So let’s go!
Sincerely,
Intentional Grace
